explanation —
the ballad jumper is our first exploration into knitwear design. the text reading “that joke isn’t funny anymore”, knitted in cream oversized lettering, derives from the a-side closure of the smiths second studio album, meat is murder. in an interview with london-based music magazine uncut, lead guitarist johnny marr mentioned when sharing the creation of the song that "[it] just fell through the roof. it was one of those times when the feeling just falls down on you from the ceiling somewhere and it almost plays itself."
this particular text resonated when developing the ideas for this collection as we feel the zeitgeist of human consciousness leads to totality acceptance. cultural norms continue to shift. we embraced this disposition and felt this would be the most gender fluid concept we could offer. machine produced in harwinton, ct, this item was made from 100% cotton yarn. it features a classic drop shoulder frame and simplified hemmed waistband to offer draping. exaggerated sleeves to match its oversized silhouette and logo text in cream across lower back.
